Well, my husband informed me on Sunday evening that it is official, I am a groupie. I tend to think I’m just excited that a “hometown boy” is doing so well for himself. It’s exciting!
So in case you haven’t guessed, Adam and I took Andrew and Alex to see Chuck Wicks do a show in Gettysburg, Pa., at the Majestic Theater. This theater was so cool.
Andrew has been asking us to take him to see a concert. We had a failed attempt a couple of months ago to get him to see Jimmy Wayne in Maryland. On the way home from that we asked Andrew who, out of all the people out there, would he really like to see? We explained that most artists were ending their tours for the year and that our best bet would probably be to go sometime next year. He thought about it and replied, “You know, I really like that guy, Chuck Wicks. I like his music.” So I checked Chuck’s schedule and no luck, he wasn’t playing anywhere nearby.
Well, for some reason a couple of weeks ago, I thought, let me check again. Lo and behold, Chuck was playing in Gettysburg! I talked to Adam and we decided it would be a fun day for Andrew.
We arrived in Gettsyburg at 2:00 p.m. and decided to have lunch at The Pub & Restaurant in the square. When we got to Gettysburg we realized that there was a scenic railroad right there. Had we known that ahead of time, we would’ve gone our earlier and taken a ride! We decided that we’d go back again for that.
A guy named Dean Brody opened the show for Chuck. He was pretty good, though he performed in a style ala George Strait. Songs were good, had a nice voice, but there just wasn’t much exciting about his performing style.
Chuck’s show, on the other hand, was fantastic! The theater was a pretty small venue and our seats were pretty good. Andrew sat on the edge of his seat the whole time, commenting about how cool it was.
After the show, Chuck signed autographs in the Gallery. We waited in line so that Andrew could get an autograph (and so that I could FINALLY get the autograph for my mother too). We talked with Chuck for a few minutes and then posed for a couple of photos. Adam ended up hoisting Alex into Chuck’s (not-so-eager) arms, but it ended up being a cute picture.
Then we got one of just Andrew and Chuck. Andrew said he was very excited to tell his mother all about it. Hopefully Andrew enjoyed himself as much as we think he did!
P.S. How old were you when you went to your first concert? Alex was almost 9.5 months.
