A Man And His Remote

August 22, 2008

Many women have learned… never to get in the way of a man and his remote. I was unaware how early this fascination began. We’ve been working on the crawling skills this week and the easiest way to get him to move is not a rattle, food or blocks… but a remote. Watch out for next weekend, MomMom! Ed could get really mad with that fancy contraption he has!

The Biggest Mess

August 20, 2008

… but oh, so worth it.

Adam and I have heard a number of people talk about the Zwieback Toast for teething babies. You hear what a remarkable product it is, but also how babies can break large pieces off and choke on them. Well, we decided we are attentive enough parents and that we’d give it a go to see if Alex can find any relief for his gums until his teeth decide to break through.

Last night we fed him oatmeal and peaches for dinner and then while we ate, we gave him some of the toast. Great idea, only the messiest of outcomes. The proof is in the picture.

Call me crazy, but though Andrew got a kick out of his little brother making such a mess… I don’t think he would’ve welcomed any hugs or kisses!

It took forever to clean the little man up, not to mention the scrub down his seat and tray needed. I told Adam we’d have been better off taking him outside and aiming a hose at him!

Summer Fun and Culinary Adventures

August 20, 2008

This past weekend we were enticed to MomMom Cindi’s with the promise of crab pickin’. Uncle Doug steamed the crabs himself and boy, were they delicious!

Alex didn’t get to eat any crabs… but he did get to try Gerber Graduates Banana Puffs. And grass.

Daddy handed Alex a Banana Puff.

Alex managed to get it to his mouth.

Ooh, the faces he makes! The funny part is even after a face like this, he still seeks out more!

In spite of MomMom’s attempts to distract Alex from the grass, he managed to get numerous handfuls. At least he’s not afraid of it!

Not sure if you can tell but this shirt says “The Cutest” on it… and boy, if Alex isn’t the cutest, I don’t know what is.

Right Side of the Crib

August 15, 2008

So far, Alex is a morning person… if morning counts as every time he wakes up from sleeping. You are always certain to be greeted by a smile when you go in to pick him up from his crib. Most recently, when he wakes up from a nap, I can hear him playing for a little while over the monitor. Sometimes he talks to himself, sometimes you can hear his rattle. The funniest times are when you hear him making “raspberry” noises. Today I decided to take the camera along when I went to get him from the crib.

In this last one, he is in awe of the camera.

How blessed are we to have such a happy little boy? Now let’s hope when he is a teenager, he greets the day just as joyful. What are the chances?

Have you ever?

I am working at home for a couple of weeks while my daycare is closed. I’m loving life because I get to do my job while Alex plays with all his toys in the living room. He is such a happy baby and was playing so contentedly that I had to take a couple of pictures.

Have you ever seen a baby with a better grin??? I don’t think so. ;)

Smiling babies are the greatest in the world!
